Who We Are
LENS was created in response to a combination of the many difficult events in 2020. We saw how polarizing conversations around difference could be and knew that in order to move forward, we needed to move toward each other.
Here's a little more about who we are.
Yvonne Davenport-Perkins is a confidence coach, consultant, New York City native, wife, homeschooler and mother of 3 young men. Her mission in life is to help others create a life they've always dreamed of while simultaneously establishing spaces where those lives are viable, regardless of background. She has over 15 years’ experience in Business Administration and Project Management across the education, health & wellness and diversity & inclusion industries.
Her superpowers? Positivity and vulnerability. Working in the DEI space can be especially taxing, so positivity is needed. And even more so, vulnerability is required to have the necessary conversations that move the needle closer to equity and justice for all.
Ruka Curate is a momprenuer, who loves starting businesses she is passionate about. From matching families with the best childcare, to helping couples afford to get married. A wife and mother of a future creative artist, Ruka has 11 years' experience in management and recruitment with a background in Neuroscience. She is passionate about advocating for diversity, as well as legal and fair livable wages for domestic workers.
Her superpowers? A willingness to take risks while asking very difficult questions. Compassion. Hoping to see the best in everyone and knowing how unfair the world can be, she still looks at it through a large half-full carafe.
